Oxfordshire City Council seeks architect-led team for masterplanning project

Following extensive community engagement in Banbury, a draft report was released in March to record feedback from the residents, businesses and stakeholders on the state of the town.

 

Overall comments sought to see more pride shown in the town, with 77% noting that there were lots of things to be improved.

 

Oxfordshire City Council now seeks multidisciplinary team led by a team with a track record in regeneration with expertise in placemaking and masterplanning to fulfil the emerging vision goals of the Banbury Vision 2025. 

 

The team will transform Banbury into a place the community is proud of – the community wants Banbury to be a vibrant, clean, safe, green, and fun independent destination.

 

Currently 67% of the 2,700 involved in the engagement felt that the town wasn’t making the most of its historic streets and was facing too much competition from retail parks. An increasing reliance on cars to get around decreased the value of Banbury as a ‘market town’ which should be walkable and attractive.
