This summer, Festival of Place 2023 is back at Boxpark Wembley in London on 5th July for a day of agenda-setting talks and happenings a stone’s throw from the legendary Wembley Stadium in Europe’s largest build-to-rent development. Get ready for an unmissable day of learning, inspiration and creativity at this unique property and built environment mixer which brings together local authorities, social housing providers, architects, government agencies, investors, community engagers, designers and developers who share the drive to create equitable and sustainable places.
Our fifth annual event is designed to break down silos in the property, architecture and placemaking industry, and bring together professionals to discern and imagine a positive social, equitable and environmental future for places. The emphasis is on great speakers and the spaces between the sessions, where a relaxed, fun and welcoming atmosphere encourages effortless networking through place hacks, happenings walking tours and shared food. We want our community to easily make new connections to follow up and result in innovative partnerships and project teams.

Last year, the Festival of place hosted groundbreaking sessions on violence against women and girls, designing for air quality, and building community in a build-to-rent market, alongside activities such as crazy golf, axe-throwing and design workshops.

The event is designed as both a great day out for teams and a way of encouraging like-minded future collaborators to meet, learn and be inspired. With over 600 people expected in person, plus a 300-strong digital audience, 2023 will be the biggest festival yet. The event will also be live streamed using the Airmeet platform, which has been serving the festival community for several years, featuring its event-wide chat, popular emoji button and social lounge featuring video meeting tables.
The festival, which will celebrate its fifth birthday next year, has gained a reputation for the insight of its speakers, thought-provoking discussions, its inclusive audience and the promotion of fresh and challenging ideas on how to make places worth living in. Next year’s event is designed to energise professional practice, drive industry change and boost creativity.
